A Salute To Our Heroes Foundation makes donation to NUHS Veterans Clinics

In celebration of Veterans Day this year, A Salute To Our HeroesFoundation, a nonprofit that assists the needs of wounded warriors,made a donation to the NUHS Veterans Clinics.

The funds will be used to treat veterans who suffer frompost-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), traumatic brain injury (TBI)and other disorders that affect combat veterans.

"Veterans who suffer from PTSD and TBI desperately need oursupport," said Dona Stretch, founder of the Salute to Our HeroesFoundation.

She founded the organization to honor Specialist Ethan J .Martin,who was killed in Afghanistan, and to raise awareness for PTSD andTBI. Her son, Sargent Sean Stretch, who served alongside Martin inAfghanistan, suffers from both conditions.

The NUHSVeterans Clinics at the Illinois campus and Florida-sitecurrently offers acupuncture treatment to veterans free of charge.Veterans and their spouses also receive a 20 percent discount onall other services. The clinic specializes in PTSD, addiction,anxiety, chronic pain, insomnia, flashbacks, musculoskeletalinjuries and more.

Tracy McHugh, MBA, NUHS Vice President for AdministrativeServices, commended Stretch for the donation.

 "Through her personal experience with wounded veterans andthose that have given their life, it is clear that the mission isclose to her heart," McHugh said. "Her dedication and commitmentwill allow several veterans to receive care and support throughoutthe years to come."
